Architecture is good for your health
Sterling | Downtown
Sterling | Downtown is a LEED Certified Platinum, affordable, multifamily housing community in Downtown Albuquerque. Located blocks from the heart of downtown, near a bus rapid transit station, and several parks, Sterling | Downtown is a community enhanced by walkability, environmental sustainability, safety and security features, and driven to meet the health and wellness needs of the community’s residents.
Health and wellness design strategies were applied to all aspects of the community’s design, operations, and maintenance which will extend over the life of the building.
Sterling | Downtown was designed to meet WELL Building Standard requirements which combines best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research to help harness a building’s potential to support human health and well-being.
Health and wellness design strategies were applied to all aspects of the community’s design, operations, and maintenance which will extend over the life of the building. These strategies promote clean air and high-quality water on site, focus on proper nourishment for residents, maximize optimal light to aid in the sleep quality of dwellers, provide fitness opportunities, and create comfortable spaces for living while supporting the mental health needs of the community as a whole.
Along with health and wellness design strategies, the project includes a number of environmental sustainability features like a centralized hot water system powered by solar thermal collectors to reduce energy usage in producing hot water to residents, low-flow plumbing fixtures and efficient landscape irrigation to reduce water usage, and covered parking to reduce heat island effect with shade provided by solar photovoltaic (PV) panels that generate energy bringing the HERS to below 60.
