Sawmill Market Landscape

The Sawmill Market is New Mexico's first food hall of its kind located in the historic Sawmill District, adjacent to Albuquerque's Historic Old Town. Originally the site of Frank Paxton's Lumber Company, Sawmill Market is inspired by the rich culture of New Mexico. This food hall features a diverse mix of local food vendors and retail experiences.

Sawmill Market is inspired by the rich culture of New Mexico.

Native plants of New Mexico are showcased throughout the site and the use of salvage materials celebrate the building's history and create a sense of place. Water harvesting techniques were incorporated into the parking lot islands, stalls, and front entrance gardens.

The entrance plaza and Yard bring new life to this industrial site and create a fun and memorable experience for its visitors. Long linear steel planters with mass plantings compliment the industrial character of the building and create a dramatic entrance. The Yard in the back was inspired by beer gardens and offers a variety of seating opportunities, outdoor dining spaces, games courts, a mobile bar, and lawn area with stage for events.
