Primrose Retirement Communities
Primrose hired DPS in 2017 to take over design of all of Primrose's senior living communities across the United States. The effort began with investigation into Primrose's existing models for independent living, assisted living, and memory care communities, which as prototypes had been site adapted to create dozens of communities.
DPS then redesigned Primrose's community prototypes to update community amenities and appearance, improve operations, and reduce construction cost. The new community model combines independent living villas, a clubhouse, and a main building of approximately 90,000sf which consists of 44 assisted living units, a guest suite, and 26 memory care units.
The new design increased efficiency by simplifying residential units and the commercial kitchen. Assisted living community amenities include a wellness center, life enrichment office, personal therapy room, theater, library, salon, chapel, activity room, fireplace lounge, pub/bistro, and dining room with outdoor dining and a private room for events.
The memory care community includes sunrooms, a meditation chapel, library, salon & barber shop, seating areas, memory wall displays, and a secured outdoor area. Projects using the new design are in progress for new communities in Utah and Texas.
