Expanding to serve more patients
Presbyterian Hospital East Expansion
To provide private rooms and a cohesive healthcare campus, Presbyterian added three new floors over the existing East Tower. This undertaking required intensive interface with the existing Presbyterian campus. A sequencing plan was developed to minimize disruption to operations and ensure that all units remained open throughout construction.
The new expansion now houses Labor and Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, Extended Care Nursery, Postpartum Recovery, Pediatric Intensive Care, Cardiac Care, Cardiovascular Intensive Care, and General Medical and Surgical Units.
To unify the healthcare campus, which is comprised of multiple buildings, a new wayfinding program was established. This eliminates patient and visitor confusion while navigating inside and outside the hospital. Furthermore, each floor of the East Expansion provides direct access to the existing Professional Office Building. Healthcare professionals and hospital staff can easily move between the buildings.
