Lovelace Medical Group Clinic at Independence Square
To update their 30-year-old medical clinic, Lovelace Medical Group hired ARGUS Investment Realty to build a new facility that the healthcare company could then rent through a long-term lease. ARGUS hired Dekker Perich Sabatini to design the clinic shell as well as other retail space at Independence Square.
Because of DPS's expertise in both commercial development and healthcare environments, Lovelace Medical Group retained DPS to design their tenant improvement and finish their new clinic.
The design of the Lovelace Clinic emphasizes functional flexibility and a patient-centered experience. The organizing element of the project is a day-lit waiting and circulation concourse that is intuitive to arriving patients. The overall organization of the building is immediately apparent, and healthcare services are easily navigated.
The project is conceived as a pure outpatient clinic with a floor plan that maximizes clarity and simplicity of patient flow, with clear on stage and off stage zoning. Frequent staff connections between clinic pods enhance the ability of providers to ebb and flow between clinics as demand varies over the course of a day.
Rigorous standardization in the layout of each exam room, and the consistent location of support spaces within the clinics is designed to provide an efficient framework for the delivery of a variety of outpatient services, anticipating a continual evolution and refinement of the health care delivery model.
The functional program includes 100 exam rooms with support services, radiology, and a group of classrooms for health education and seminars.
