Children’s Wellness Center

The CYFD (Children, Youth and Family Division) Child Wellness Center is a multiphase project which will ultimately house the majority of CYFD departments from across facilities.

DPS, in partnership with HB Construction, is working to deliver a Design-Build project that prioritizes the creation of a calm, secure environment for children, families and CYFD staff who will utilize the space.

The now completed phase one involves complicated renovations to three of five campus buildings. Phase one also includes site upgrades and a full furniture package. Phase one includes CYFD CWC Receiving Center, Family Visitation Space, the CYFD Training Academy, Statewide Central Intake Call Center, as well as office spaces for Protective Services, Support Services, Juvenile Justice Staff and Information Technology.

Project design began in May of 2018 and culminated with completed construction, six months later, in December of 2018. The speed and quality of the completion of phase one would not have been possible without collaboration and expedited approvals of design, and inspections during construction from State of NM GSD/FMD, Construction Industries Division, City and State Fire Marshals Offices and The Water Utility Authority.
