James A. Favata

James found his passion early in life. After taking several high school art electives, it became a natural fit in his mechanical drafting class. James’ interest in art, math, and technical drawings sparked a lifelong journey in architecture and design. With more than 25 years of experience, James continues to grow his passion through design solutions in residential, mixed-use, and student housing across the country.

In his spare time, James enjoys NASCAR, football, and spending time with his wife and children. Time with his two daughters is a constant source of joy. From the time they were little, they have been remarkably close: going to the gym together before school, earning black belts in Taekwondo, teaching them to drive, and spending summers at the beach, in the pool, or at the barbeque. Now that his girls have master’s degrees from ASU, they are spending summers travelling internationally.

Most rewarding for James is the opportunity to support younger staff and share the benefit of his decades of experience and expertise. Mentors guided his own career, from high school teachers to cherished architectural mentors and current colleagues. James pays the favor forward, helping his team along their paths as they pursue their passions.
