Dekker Perich Sabatini is designing a new school for the Carrizozo Municipal School District. At 44,1417 sq ft, the school will serve 158 students and provide ample space for learning, collaboration, and growth.
The school will feature 11 new classrooms, science labs, special education space for programming and wellness, a library and media center, multi-purpose room, commercial kitchen, weight room, and a new gymnasium. The gymnasium will include dedicated access for after-hour community events, while keeping the rest of the school closed. Secure outdoor learning areas, pickle ball courts, basketball courts, and tether ball will also be provided, along with a secure courtyard for performances and gatherings.
Through the renovation of an existing adjacent building, the school will also include a dedicated Career Technical Education (CTE) facility for meat processing and culinary classes. The CTE building will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities and equip them with the skills needed for success in their future careers.
The design of the school will reflect input from the Carrizozo community and District to ensure that the school meets the needs of students, parents, and educators alike. The district is committed to helping students thrive and providing them with the best possible learning environment.
The school's design respects the surrounding landscape, reflecting the area's unique lava rock and other natural features. The school will serve as a point of pride for the community and provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for learning
