Photographer

Location: Albuquerque, NM

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini is seeking a self-starter with great organizational and communication skills to assist our architecture and design firm with project photography, headshots, lifestyle shots, and other miscellaneous photography needs. Depending on the preferences of the successful candidate this could be a full-time or part-time employee position, or an independent contractor.

Qualified candidates must have a portfolio showing a strong aptitude for photographing architecture and interiors as well as have full working knowledge of their digital camera and equipment. 1-3 years of professional experience is preferred, but not required (depending on nature of position and/or strength of portfolio). Formal education in photography is not required, but preference may be given to candidates with a relevant degree or coursework.

This role will work in conjunction with one other full-time photographer as part of a 6-person marketing team and will require the ability to both plan/organize/perform photoshoots on your own and act in a photography assistant role on select photoshoots.

This position requires excellent compositional skills, strong attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to manage and prioritize simultaneous projects, and knowledge of current trends and best practices in architectural photography.

This role also requires that you own the equipment needed to conduct architectural photoshoots. The minimum equipment needed includes a DSLR or mirrorless camera with full manual capabilities, sturdy tripod, wide-angle zoom lens, remote trigger, filters, flash, and memory cards. The firm will provide reimbursement for usage of this equipment.

This position will also require travel (including overnight), early mornings, late nights, and occasionally weekends depending on scheduled photoshoots. At a minimum, qualified candidates will have extensive experience using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Knowledge in Adobe Bridge, Premiere, After Effects, and videography is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and conduct photoshoots independently
  • Act as a photography assistant on select photoshoots
  • Distribute contact sheets for team selection and organize files appropriately on servers
  • Digital post-processing (color correction, compositing, retouching, etc.) for final distribution of selected photos
  • Manage/track time and equipment usage for reimbursement

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Self-starter with great organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with all D/P/S offices, project teams, marketing team, and clients
  • Ability to manage and prioritize simultaneous projects
  • Experience in Architectural/Interior photography
  • Experience in additional photography including head shots, lifestyle shots, and other miscellaneous photography assignments
  • Experience in videography and video editing
  • Experience using Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge, Premiere, and After Effects
