Margaret Cornelius, an Associate at Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (D/P/S) design firm, is a board certified healthcare interior designer after passing the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers (AAHID) Examination and earning the prestigious AAHID Certificate. The AAHID credential signifies competence in a variety of aspects that affect the healthcare interior environment.
“AAHID is the standard to identify those interior designers who are uniquely qualified to meet the needs and challenges of the healthcare interior design industry” explains AAHID Past President Jocelyn Stroupe of Cannon Design in Chicago. “The AAHID Certificate is the highest appellation available for a healthcare interior design professional, and this credential is what every healthcare facility should look for when choosing an interior designer.”
Margaret Cornelius is a licensed interior designer with more than 35 years of experience providing interior planning and design for healthcare environments. Using evidence based design principles and working closely with clinical personnel, Margaret manages functional “micro” planning of clinical and office spaces to improve function and flow throughout medical facilities. She is currently working with Indian Health Services on Fort Yuma Healthcare Center, north of Yuma, and Kayenta Health Center in Arizona.
“This achievement places Margaret among an elite group of interior designers who have demonstrated design excellence for healthcare environments,” said Andrea Hanson, D/P/S principal and licensed interior designer. “This important, industry-recognized credential underscores our firm’s commitment to improve healing and wellbeing through design.”
AAHID certifies the knowledge, skills and abilities of healthcare interior designers. Board Certified Healthcare Interior Design certificants are distinguished and qualified by education, examination, and work experience to practice healthcare interior design. The AAHID appellation recognizes excellence, commitment and knowledge. It further distinguishes preeminent healthcare interior designers from other architects, designers, decorators, and interior designers.
