The Samaritan Counseling Center of Albuquerque honored the recipients of its 17th annual Ethics in Business Awards at an event that raises awareness of the importance of ethical business practices. Among those honored were Dekker/Perich/Sabatini and McKee Wallwork & Co., both winners of the Jack and Donna Rust Award for for-profit business.
Winners were selected after a lengthy process that evaluated 26 nominees. Business ethics students from UNM Anderson School researched each nominee during a semester-long project. They interviewed companies and evaluated how each handled ethical dilemmas and what processes each had in place to address them. The student reports were then given to an independent selection committee, chaired by Chris J. Padilla, senior manager of Ethics Advisory & Investigative Services at Sandia National Laboratories.
Dekker/Perich/Sabatini's transparency and openness were cited as key characteristics that made the firm stand out. In addition, D/P/S was noted for honoring confidentiality of clients, accurately representing themselves and expertise, and stressing personal responsibility, integrity, and giving back to the community.
