D/P/S Names New CEO, COO

May 1, 2019

We are pleased to announce the promotions of Benjamin Gardner and Kendal Giles to lead the firm into the future. Gardner has been named Chief Executive Officer, while Giles will take on the role of Chief Operations Officer.

Steve Perich, current CEO and a founding principal, said “We couldn’t be more excited about where Benjamin and Kendal will take D/P/S from here.” He continued, “We’re in the planning and design business, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that we’ve been planning our future for many years now.”

Benjamin Gardner, AIA, is a proud U.S. military veteran. Starting as an intern architect 18 years ago, rising to the position of partner and CEO is an exceptional accomplishment.

“Benjamin’s a strong communicator who is both customer-focused and employee-oriented,” Perich said, “he’s a true people person who genuinely cares about those with whom and for whom he works."

Kendal Giles, AIA, recently celebrated 30 years at D/P/S. Giles has been heavily involved in the financial and business leadership of the firm for the past decade. He has applied his understanding of the core values that have made the company a success by helping land D/P/S on the Top 100 Architectural Firms list.

“The world is changing fast,” Dale Dekker, founding principal said, “So we’re changing with it. We’re putting the right leadership in place to tackle those opportunities head on.”

With the announcement of the Gardner and Giles promotions, the firm anticipates people wanting to know how this affects the founding partners. Each has their own plans, which will be unfolding on their individual timetables.

“We are now executing our leadership transition strategy just as we have planned for since forming the firm over 20 years ago.” Perich said. “I will transition to an of counsel role at the end of the year, while Dale and Bill are planning to transition over the next few years.”
