NMJC Western Heritage Center
This multifunctional resource center, located on the campus of the New Mexico Junior College, features numerous learning activities and cultural events. It brings people together for interactive educational experiences related to the cultural and natural histories of southeastern New Mexico.
The Western Heritage Museum houses a conference center that can accommodate various sizes of groups for meetings, education, parties and events. The center also houses a permanent museum of exhibits that chronicle a timeline through the history of Lea County. The building is wrapped around a central courtyard that allows exterior exhibits, as well as space for receptions and events.
The museum houses an Iwerks theater capable of seating 300. The theater can also function as an auditorium for large presentations.
The museum also houses the Cowboy Hall of Fame and a children’s museum. The children’s museum provides numerous interactive exhibits and several times a year, a petting zoo, roundup and other activities take place on the grounds of the museum, outside of the children’s wing.
