High Desert Development commissioned Dekker/Perich/Sabatini to design a “21st Century New Mexico landmark.” The goal was to establish a design direction for the town center of their new Mariposa community, currently under development on 4,000 virgin acres northwest of Albuquerque. Building characteristics such as a simple form, a response to the site by optimal solar orientation, shading and views, natural day lighting and contrast of materials provides a fresh interpretation of the New Mexico vernacular and a strong sense of place.
