Mariposa Community Center is a new community social center featuring two swimming pools, an exercise room, and a café. The facility is another step toward achieving the Mariposa master plan goal of a sustainable and pedestrian-oriented community. The project has set a goal to achieve LEED Silver certification.

The landscape design for the Mariposa Community Center contrasts components of the natural environment with the formal structure and modern forms of the building. Native and regionally adapted plants are used in formal patterns that relate to the site and architecture. In the pool area, plants in repetitive patterns are silhouetted against tall perimeter walls, and are used to frame distant views of the natural landscape and the Sandia Mountains. Plants are also patterned along the front of the building to reinforce the rhythm of the building, create order along the street, and enhance and  support the modern appearance of the facility.
