Hyderabad is an ancient city that has become one of India’s technology centers. Located in South Central India, this city of 10 million is in need of modern single family housing to satisfy the needs of new technology workers and their families. Dekker/Perich/Sabatini was hired by Opus Development to create a community master plan with schematic level architecture and landscape architecture. The developers were looking for differentiation by overlaying a modern American community development plan with Vastu Shastra, an ancient Indian science of space and architecture that supports physical and spiritual health. Vastu Shastra determined the configuration of much of the development plan, including the layout of streets and lots as well as the location of specific household elements such as the kitchen and bathroom. The plan includes approximately 300 two and three-story single-family units on approximately 50 acres, and a 25,000sf clubhouse with a large park swimming pool/spa, lake, trails and tennis courts.
