Higher Education

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini has collaborated with many prestigious higher education clients throughout the west.  We have worked with these institutions to create campus facilities that are at the leading edge of design, incorporating the latest technologies with spaces that reflect the most current thinking in educational pedagogies.  Our process is one that brings together all stakeholders of a facility and campus to create projects that respond to multiple layers of needs.

Our work centers on a balance of response to changing ideas in teaching with recognition of the institution’s reputation and tradition.  Our emphasis is always on how the building supports the goals and aspirations of learning and research, but always within the context of the campus fabric.  We also recognize that campus design is as much about the spaces between buildings as the buildings themselves, and we take special care in providing facilities that enhance the pattern of the campus experience.

We are involved in numerous industry-related organizations such as Society of College and University Planners (SCUP), and Council of Educational Facilities Planners International (CEFPI).  We support the research activities of such organizations to stay abreast of current and future market trends.  This knowledge benefits not only our firm, but also our clients.

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini is proud to announce the launch of H.E. Whiteboard, a blog of issues and trends for the Higher Education community.  This blog is a clearinghouse of information on all aspects of educational delivery at the university and community college level, with subject categories from curriculum to technology, from sustainability to trends in building types.  Check it out and leave us your comments: what issues would you like to see addressed?
