High Desert Development commissioned Dekker/Perich/Sabatini to design a “21st Century New Mexico landmark” to establish design guidelines for the town center of their new Mariposa community under development on 4000 virgin acres northwest of Albuquerque. Simple form, a response to the site by optimal solar orientation, shading and views, natural day lighting and contrast of materials provides a fresh interpretation of the New Mexico vernacular and a strong sense of place, rooted in Anasazi tradition.
